Both Lamborghini and Porsche were involved in the production of tractors at one stage, and the aforementioned Lambo was the original job, right down to the problems with the Ferrari 250 GT gearbox and legendary unraveling. Steyr is not so famous, but when it unveils something – everyone is watching.
STEYR Konzept
STEYR Konzept is special in several things – it has a modular hybrid drive, consisting of a highly efficient diesel engine, a generator and five individually controlled electric motors. Such architecture offers many benefits, including increased flexibility and comfort.
STEYR’s electric motors are wired to provide power where it is needed at a given moment, and the e-torque coming from the central battery offers extra energy when operating at maximum power. The advantage of this architecture lies in the smaller number of parts – there is no mechanical transmission or hydraulic components, and to make it even more efficient there is energy storage when driving downhill.
Yes, nothing is thrown around here, as in the true cuisine of a high-end restaurant. When needed, the tractor can be recharged via a regular outlet. All hydraulics on the tractor are powered by electricity, including the PTO (Power Take Off, for drive connection).
The hub electric motors work great for the center of gravity, and the delivery of power and torque is instant, which is always nice with a working machine.
