Laureato Absolute Rock is made of a material that is stronger than steel…
The classic twentieth-century sports watch comes with an integrated case and bracelet, with a modern octagonal base – Laureato brand’s , Girard Perregaux has evolved gracefully since its debut in 1975. The case that proves these claims is the latest model to join the collection, Laureato Absolute Rock, which appreciates its retro origins and adorns it with an unmistakable contemporary vibe.
Introduced as a concept watch during the Geneva SIHH event, Laureato Absolute Rock Chronograph is now available as a production model, in a limited edition of only 100 pieces.
Housed in a 44mm diameter case made of carbon glass – a new material that is known for its water resistance, strength and lightness, the watch is made with the help of special manufacturing processes involving extreme compression. The resulting density contributes to its resistance, as well as its sleek and uniform textures. Carbon glass is reported to be 100 times more resistant than steel.
In the case of this model, the blue fibers that pass through each model in a camouflage style pattern make each watch unique. Other aesthetic details include a dial consisting of two hollow elements, with the upper coming with a sleek matte black finish. The sporting theme continues on a fully integrated black rubber strap.
As for the mechanism, the watch is equipped with the GP03300-1058 automatic mechanism, which has an energy reserve of 46 hours, with an impressive 419 components. Buyers will have to accept the brand’s claim that the mechanism is finished with Cotes de Geneve motifs, as its back carries a decoration in the form of an engraved and varnished Laureato Absolute logo.
This limited edition model is available for purchase at select Girard-Perregaux boutiques, priced at CHF 15,900.
