The famous Porsche convertible driven by legendary rock singer Janis Joplin was sold on Thursday in New York for almost $1.8 million, a record sale at auction for this model vehicles, announced Sotheby’s. The starting price was $300,000. Prices have risen in the last five minutes and Porsche was sold for $1.76 million. It is a model from 1964, and is distinguished by colorful psychedelic images.

Janis Joplin enjoyed driving that car everywhere, which was parked in front of the Hollywood hotel where she died of a heroin overdose in 1970.
