Ferrari 458 Italia

Ferrari recalled 1,240 of its 458 Italia supercars supercars worth more than £212million because of a design fault which can cause them to burst into flames. Ferrari launched an investigation last month after media reports of fire accidents involving five vehicles in California, Paris, Switzerland, China and one other unnamed location.

A Ferrari spokesperson told CNNMoney.com the luxury supercar is being recalled in order to make modifications to the wheelhouse assembly. In rare instances the heat shield could become deformed, bringing it too close to the exhaust system and igniting, a Ferrari spokesperson said.

BaByliss Pro wants consumers to know that its new hairdryer has the power and performance of a Ferrari. More specifically, the hairstyling tools brand has introduced what it bills as the first professional luxury hair dryer driven by an engine developed in collaboration with the Ferrari Challenge Team.

Conair’s BaByliss Pro line has come out with the Volare hair dryer in two sizes, a medium and a compact one, and in two colors, black and Ferarri red. It is the world’s first professional luxury hair dryer driven by a Ferrari engine.

Right Hand Drive Ferrari F50

The other day we told you about the Sultan of Brunei’s incredible 7,000-strong, multi-billion dollar car collection, boasting among other things some 452 Ferraris. Apparently the collection has been reduced by at least one. The Sultan’s custom 1996 Ferrari F50 has just been listed for sale via JamesList. The blood-red monster you see above was built specially for Captain Cash and is originally conceived and designed as a Formula 1 car for the road.

Custom made for the Sultan, one of only 359 F50′s ever produced and this one of only two Right Hand Drive Factory built Ferrari F50′s in existance. The F50′s V12 engine kicks out 513 hp at 8,500 rpm with a torque of 470 nM. It does 0–60 mph in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 202 mph.

With 37 locations all around the world, including four already in the U.S., it was only a matter of time until the first Ferrari Store in New York was going to open, and it now has. The Ferrari Store of New York officially opened its doors on June 24th, unveiling a retail space offering an array of branded apparel and lifestyle products.

The 200 square foot store sits smartly next to the Ferrari showroom. As expected the opening of the store was a gala event attended by the high profile Ferrari folks and customers. Also present were New York’s elite as well Hollywood celebrities. Relevant cars in Ferrari’s history such as the 1959 250 California and a 1984 GTO, together with the current range like the brand new 458 Italia, the Ferrari California, the 612 Scaglietti, and the special limited 599 GTO made for a unique display at this opening event.

At the on-going Computex 2010 convention, Acer has unveiled brand new Liquid E Ferrari Edition smartphone. The handset will reportedly boast of the same specs of the regular Liquid E: WVGA touch screen display, Wi-Fi, GPS, 5MP camera and Snapdragon processor.
