A new interpretation of the tonneau shaped design favoured by Richard Mille is visible on the case, with dimensions 50.24mm x 42.7mm x 15.84 mm, but with an asymmetrical shape to be aerodynamic for a sprinter like Blake. At first glance, you’ll notice extremely dynamic bridges that span the movement and evoke the claws that refer to the man they call “The Beast.” Aside from hand-painted green and yellow, two colors that also appear on the aluminum flange in tribute to the Jamaican flag – and in honor of Yohan Blake, the RM 59-01 features a surprising thickness and tapering extension between 2 and 5 o’clock, which prevents any rubbing of the torque-limiting crown against Yohan Blake’s wrist, making it extremely comfortable to wear.
The RM 59-01 is equipped with a skeletonised, manually wound tourbillon movement, with an oscillating rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of circa 48 hours. It offers an optimal performance/ regularity/power reserve ratio, provided by the combination of grade 5 titanium with anticorodal aluminium Pb109, optimised going train and a variable inertia balance.

Bottega Veneta, the Italian luxury goods house has teamed up with renowned Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux for its first ever watch, the Bottega Veneta BVX. The BVX is a unisex watch that features the fashion house’s signature woven leather pattern on its strap. The dial has a black, brushed titanium cover case while the face is brown. The strap is crocodile leather and is cigar coloured.
But don’t let the simplicity fool you! Inside this chic exterior lies an 18-karat rose gold automatic movement made expressly by Girard Perregaux for Bottega Veneta. The case measures 41 mm across and is made of brushed titanium, an exceptionally strong, lightweight metal with a soft luster. Titanium has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal and is also corrosion-resistant and hypoallergenic. The case is finished with a state-of-the-art PVd coating in Bottega Veneta’s signature brunito color. The back of the watch is also faced with crystal, leaving the workings completely exposed.

Many watchmakers are revisiting their pasts and relaunching some of their most iconic designs. Omega too seems to have sprung on to this bandwagon and has recently debuted the Omega Ladymatic timepiece. And it was no less than Nicole Kidman who recently unveiled the new OMEGA Ladymatic to the world at The Ritz Carlton in Beijing.
First launched in 1955, this timepiece disappeared from the markets over the years. A part of the De Ville collection, it was one of Omega’s first self-winding watches designed especially for women and featured the smallest automatic movement Omega had ever made. Relaunched Omega Ladymatic timepiece will be available in 27 different versions, including 34mm wave pattern case, bezels in polished metal or diamond-set, sapphire crystal casebacks, wave pattern dials, plain or diamond-set hour markers, luminous hands, on a matching bracelet or alligator strap. One good thing about this reissue is that the watch gets to use newer technology aka Omega’s Co-Axial Caliber 8520/8521.
