Land Rover has officially revealed details and images of its 2013 Range Rover. This is the fourth-generation Range Rover, which is most luxurious and 39 per cent lighter than its predecessors, due to its all-aluminium unibody structure. Fitted with a standard V-8 powertrain, the American-specification S.U.V. would weigh as much as 700 pounds less than its outgoing equivalent, Land Rover said.
Although new 2013 Range Rover is more refined and stronger than its relatives, it features an elongated front fascia and new wheels as the smaller, sporty and successful Range Rover Evoque, which premiered to critical acclaim last year. At the rear, the Range Rover’s tall tail lamps now feature a swept-around character line, but the automaker’s split tailgate design appears to have carried over. Land Rover has also introduced its next-gen Terrain Response system which selects the appropriate ride and handling setting based on the road surface.
Upgrades are also evident throughout the interior. 2013 Range Rover has got 4.7 inches of added rear legroom and a two-place rear seat package. The special care has been taken to minimize seams between the instrument panel and the rest of the dashboard. The data screen of the new model is nestled in a smooth swath of dash, and there appear to be fewer knobs and dials on the console than in the 2012 model. In keeping with expectations of Range Rover buyers, an abundance of wood veneer and leather carries over.Noise levels inside the cabin are also claimed to have been reduced due to the use of acoustic lamination on the side door glass and windscreen.
And, inevitable underhood: The engine lineup remains the same as before, so customers have a choice between a supercharged V8 petrol engine, and TDV6 and SDV8 diesel engines, which come complete with CO2 reduction technology.
Full specifications and pricing will be released in September, ahead of the 2013 model’s global debut at the Paris motor show, with deliveries to customers starting in early 2013.
