In the last few years, we’ve seen collector releases of 40-year-old whiskeys, such as Dalmore, or Macallan whiskey edition which is 72 years old.
Another favorite whiskey producer, Highland Park, joins to this list, which this autumn presents a 50-year-old single malt-Old Expression.
Whiskey with the current value is $15,000 comes from the lost casks of Scottish distillery from 1964, found in 2008 in warehouse number 7.
Only 274 bottles have been produced, which value will only rise in the future. Distillery, knowing of the rarity of this drink from 1964, decided to treat the same royal, transferring from its warehouse on the island of Orkney, one by one whiskey.

Once safely on Scotland’s mainland, the casks were united and then augmented with a splash of the distillery’s other 50-year-old whisky, which was released in 2010 and came from a batch barreled in 1960. “It means there’s a thread of continuity, a legacy within a legacy, in each of these 274 bottles,” says Max McFarlane, Highland Park’s master distiller.
This whiskey is smooth 85 and opens with notes of sweet dark cherries, thanks to original cherry casks. Smoked wood and rich dry figs and apricots with cedar wood and recognizable peat notes give this single taste a unique taste.
Each embossed and signed bottle is beautiful by itself, but it is packed in an oak box with an additional silver / crystal decanter specially made for this single malt.
Whiskey will be available in September and October, but the distillery is already starting to receive orders.
