There is no end of celebrities’ boasting. The last example is Kelly Osbourne, who appeared at the 2012 Emmy Awards complete with the most expensive accessory – $250,000 worth diamond manicure. The daughter of Ozzy, red carpet commentator, and Fashion Police co-host, Kelly probably was unaware for the reactions caused by small fortune of black diamonds on her nails.
Created by Los Angeles-based luxury jeweler Azature, one bottle of black nail polish, priced at $250,000 contains 267 carats of powdered black diamonds for a one-of-a-kind finish. Before Kelly, Jennifer Lopez was the only person to have worn it when attended “Evita” on Broadway.
According to the media, Kelly’s most expensive manicure caused a turbulent reaction of her fans and critics, so the singer admitted that she didn’t actually have to fork out the quarter of a million dollars for the blingy nail treatment. She also quoted, “Please forgive me for not regretting it, it made me feel like a queen!”
As we earlier wrote about that world’s most expensive nail polish, Azature company is also offering a lower-priced version that will contain only one real black diamond and cost $25 for a 0.5oz/15ml bottle.
World’s most expensive dress has been unveiled recently at Ukraine Fashion Week. Created by British designer Debbie Wingham, this stunning dress worth $5,682,950!
Wingham’s dress was created using 50 two-carat black diamonds (25 diamonds adorning the peplum and a further 25 diamonds on the shoulder shrug), as well as white diamonds and gold thread. Also, another five carats worth of black diamonds serve as the centerpiece of the bustier. The dress weighs a whopping 29 pounds (13 kg), and it took six months to sew by hand.
There is little disagreement about whether Wingham’s dress deserves to get the title World’s Most Expensive Dress, as there are rumors of other gowns worth more than twice its price. What is sure is that the dress with 85 diamonds which worth $15 Million has its own category as World’s Most Expensive Cocktail Dress. So, this dress, that is one of seven diamond-covered dresses created by British designer Debbie Wingham’s collection, is probably world’s most expensive, what will The World Record Academy certainly confirm.
Unlike diamonds formed deep under the earths’ surface in an environment of tremendous pressure and heat, black diamonds are uniquely found in surface alluvial deposits only in Brazil and the Central African Republic, and contain gases indicating their possible extra-terrestrial origins. It is not unusual to suffer significant weight loss during cutting black diamonds. They are porous, and difficult to cut and polish due to their lack of cleavage plane, requiring a time-consuming process to fashion the polycrystalline rough into faceted gemstones.
This rare 98-carat unmounted natural black diamond will be offered at Bonham’s Fine Jewelry auction on October, 19tj in New York. [Bonham’s]
One of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-end audio products, Walker Audio, Inc., announces the release of their next generation of elite turntables, the Proscenium Black Diamond III. The new turntable is notable for its low pressure airpods the platter sits on to help reduce resonance and the air-bearing tonearm which aids in the accurate reproduction of sound.
The air bearing arm, which has a significant role to play, is a rather solid structure with high air pressure (45 psi) capabilities resulting in its firmness and freedom from friction and is self cleaning with the additional vents present. Other major change includes the new bearing platter, which is 10 inches in diameter and has 3-jets of its own.
To set this device up at your place, you would need a space of 24×18 inches which is capable of bearing the 245 lb weight of this device. At $90,000 the Walker Reference Proscenium Black Diamond III turntable is not a purchase to be decided upon lightly. [Walker Audio]
