The all-electric Mercedes-Benz Prototype has slightly less horsepower than its gas-powered sibling. But it still has a very impressive 526 horsepower and 649-pound-feet of torque — the latter available from the moment you mash the pedal to the floor. When you do stomp the E-Cell’s accelerator, it will blast 60 mph in four seconds, according to the Benz AMG folks. Electric energy is pumped into the car via a 400-volt, liquid-cooled high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack that can be recharged under braking. The battery modules are located in front of the firewall, in the centre tunnel and behind the seats. Mercedes Benz reports there is no change in the Gullwing model’s aluminum spaceframe body. The exterior and interior however are not spared from a few design and style changes.

The extra meter of the Binz 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Limousine turns the car from a 4-door sedan into a 6-door limo with three rows of seats, increasing the passenger capacity to seven if you count the driver too. The two individual middle row seats can be placed to face forward or backward. The two doors, which were added for the car to be more practical, required the engineers to rethink the entire bodywork to keep a high level of torsional rigidity. This had to be done, especially since the central pillar needed to be displaced.
